But the numbers of patients are much lower than in January when infection rates were last as high as they are now.
The number of Covid-19 patients in North Yorkshire’s hospitals has more than doubled in the last week but health chiefs say that the levels remain down on those seen earlier in the year.

The current infection rates in the county are reaching levels last seen in January but Amanda says that back then the number of patients needing hospital treatment was significantly higher.
Amanda Bloor encouraged anyone who has not yet received a dose of the coronavirus vaccine to come forward to get one.
She added that a pop-up vaccination centre would be open in Scarborough’s Brunswick Shopping Centre on Saturday between 9am and 3pm.
Anyone over the age of 18 can go along without appointment to get a jab.
