Questions are being asked about what happens to Scarborough's town hall when the borough council ceases to exist next April.
Scarborough Civic Society are suggesting that the Town Hall would be a good location for a museum when the borough council is abolished next April.
The authority is being replaced by a new North Yorkshire wide Council.
Adrian Perry from the Scarborough Civic Society they have expressed concern about the buildings future and have put forward the idea of a museum.
Castle Division County Councillor, Janet Jefferson, thinks the town hall would be a good location for a museum and thinks the issue needs to be discussed sooner rather than later.
But Falsgrave & Stepney County Councillor, Liz Colling, says that with the amount of work needing to be done to transition to the new council, the town hall's future isn't a priority right now.
The building itself will transfer to the new North Yorkshire Council April, there are as yet no confirmed plans for its use.
