A Scarborough group who are helping Ukrainian refugees find host families in the local area say there is still a steady flow of people and a continuing need for host families.
The Sunflower Appeal Group says it now has over 360 members consisting of sponsors, guests, supporters, guests looking for sponsors and sponsors looking for guests.
Scalby Businessman Iain Butterworth has been leading the groups efforts to provide support for both Ukrainian families looking for a safe home and for those local people offering to act as hosts, Iain says new families are getting in touch on a daily basis.
Iain says the group continues to hear from Ukrainian families looking for hosts in the UK as they flee their war torn homes.
Iain says there is a lot of work to do making sure that each family has the support they need once they arrive in the borough.
The Sunflower group are holding regular meetings to support both the Ukrainian families relocating to the coast and the local people acting as their hosts. The group has been holding discussions with the authorities on transport help, benefits, education, employment and English schools, they have also been working with local employers to match guests up with local jobs.
