Concern Over Scarborough Swimming Lessons After Alpamare Closure

The impact of the sites closure on local people has been highlighted at a council meeting.

Labours prospective parliamentary Candidate for Scarborough and Whitby has called on the council to do what it can to get swimming lessons back up and running in the town following the closure of the Alpamare Waterpark.

Alison Hume says the closure of the park is affecting local people and not just tourists.

North Yorkshire Council Leaders say they are working to get a good outcome from the situation at Scarborough's Alpamare Waterpark.

The parks developer went in to administration last month and the facility remains closed.

It's understood North Yorkshire council was owed several million pounds by the developer and may now gain control of the site.

The council's executive member for Finance - Councillor Gareth Dadd - told a meeting that the situation is complicated and delicate.
