North Yorkshire Police’s Chief Constable, Tim Forber, was on patrol on Saturday night with the Whitby Response Team.
Taking to the driving seat around the streets of Whitby, the Chief worked with the local officers tasked with keeping residents and visitors in the town and rural areas safe.
Just after midnight, officers from the response team requested a car to stop near the New Bridge. The driver sped off from officers as they requested a breath sample.
The Chief, who was crewed with PC Formstone, located the vehicle soon after in Stainsacre. The vehicle was subsequently seized.
Chief Constable Forber recorded a message before heading out on patrol in the town.
