A charity football match will take place this Easter Sunday at Pindar Leisure Centre to raise vital funds for Motor Neurone Disease research.
Organisers Jamie Wray and Paul Tymon are gearing up for a special charity football match this Easter Sunday.
The upcoming sporting event is being held to raise vital funds in aid of Motor Neurone Disease research, bringing the local community together for a highly anticipated and competitive fixture.
The match will take place on the outside football pitch at the Pindar Leisure Centre, offering ample space for supporters, families, and members of the public to gather and watch the action unfold.
Following the final whistle, the fundraising efforts will not stop. The event will continue off the pitch with a community gathering and a special raffle hosted at the local pub, The Byways.
Organisers are hoping for a strong turnout to help support the vital medical research, noting that the venue has plenty of room to accommodate everyone who wishes to cheer on the teams.
Jamie Wray, who has been personally affected by the illness, through his close family, detailed the schedule for the day and encouraged the public to get involved with the post-match activities:
"It's at 2 o'clock and it's at Pindar Leisure Centre and the outside football pitch so there's plenty of space for spectators um and afterwards we're going to have a raffle that's at the local pub the Byways so please feel free to to come along purchase some tickets and help raise this uh lots of money for this uh really worthy cause."
The players involved in the Easter Sunday clash are no strangers to philanthropic efforts, having participated in numerous charity events in the past.
To maximise the funds raised for Motor Neurone Disease research, every single player taking to the field is contributing their own money for the privilege of playing in the match.
In return for their generous donations, the participants will be provided with a full football kit and an official referee to oversee the game, ensuring a memorable experience and a highly professional setup for everyone involved.
A dedicated JustGiving page has been established to collect contributions from the wider community and track the fundraising progress.
Although the players themselves will deposit their individual match fees closer to the event date, the online fundraising page has already begun to see early support from generous donors, currently sitting at around £115.
The organisers are also actively seeking further contributions for the post-match event, appealing directly to local residents to donate raffle prizes or purchase raffle tickets to boost the final total.
Explaining the financial contributions and the setup for the dedicated players, Paul added:
"Yeah every player because they've done a lot of these charity events, they're all good lads, we all pay to play. You get a referee, you get a kit and you get a great experience and a good laugh but the lads all pay to play. Obviously if they do that through the Just Giving page we've had donations already. The lads haven't started paying in yet, they'll pay nearer the time so if you see the total of about £115, that's just through a few donations already. So please please have a look, please get in touch with me if you can get a raffle ticket or a raffle prize, that would be great."
