Bridlington Town manager Scott Kerr is urging supporters to get behind the team as they prepare to face Blyth Town, following an impressive run of form that has seen them lose just one of their last twelve matches.
Bridlington Town manager Scott Kerr is calling on the local community to turn out in force and support the team as they prepare for their upcoming fixture against Blyth Town.
The team is currently enjoying a remarkable run of form, having suffered only a single defeat in their last twelve matches across all competitions.
This impressive streak has also seen Bridlington Town successfully navigate their way to an upcoming East Riding Cup final, adding further excitement to the closing stages of their season.
Kerr is keen to see the local fans reward the players for their hard work by turning out in larger numbers to witness their progress firsthand.
He believes the team is committed to playing an attractive brand of football and wants the supporters to be a part of their journey as they look to end the campaign on a high note.
During a recent fixture, the manager's tactical decisions were briefly questioned by the supporters, particularly when he opted to substitute player Ollie Green.
Green had been performing well in previous outings, and his removal from the pitch prompted audible groans from the crowd.
However, Kerr's decision was swiftly vindicated when the team found the back of the net just thirty seconds after the change was made.
The manager acknowledged the fans' reactions but stressed that tactical adjustments are often made for the broader benefit of the team, rather than as a critique of an individual player's performance.
He also expressed his willingness to take responsibility and hold his hands up whenever his decisions do not work out as planned.
Kerr told Brid Town TV:
"Yeah it'd be lovely to get a crowd in, you know, get down, support the lads, you know we've come in and we've lost, you know I think we've lost one in 12 in all comps, we've got an East Riding Cup final to go to.
"The lads are flying, you know, we want to play football the right way, come down watch us. Get behind the lads.
"You know I heard a few groans when I took Ollie Green off [against Grimsby in midweek] to be fair because you know he's done well in previous, but I felt right we needed to just change it. Not like sometimes when I make subs, it's not because people are having bad games but I heard a few groans from the fans and I thought oh this, well then, it were maybe 30 seconds later, we scored. So, you know, it is what it is. I've got to make changes, I'll hold my hands up if I make the wrong ones, but [I'm] over the moon with the lads.
"It'd be lovely to get fans down and get behind the lads. Let's push on to the end of the season and see if we can finish as high as possible."
As the match against Blyth Town approaches, the focus remains firmly on maintaining their formidable recent record and securing the highest possible league finish.
Kick off at the Mounting Systems Stadium is 3pm.
