Changes to Bin Collections in Scarborough Borough Over Christmas & New Year

There will be changes to bin collection days over the festive period in Scarborough, Filey, Whitby and the surrounding areas.

Scarborough Borough Council say their hard-working refuse teams will be taking a break over Christmas and New Year which means there will be some alterations to collection days.

The online bin collection calendar has been updated to reflect the changes.  You can check the revised collection days for your street by entering your post code or street name in the online calendar which you can find here

Scarborough Borough Council Online Bin Calendar

We are being reminded to make sure our bins are outside our property by 6am on the day of collection.

The council are also encouraging people to recycle as much waste as possible over the festive period.

"It’s quite likely that you might generate more waste over the Christmas and New Year period.

Lots of it can be recycled and placed in your blue bin.  We accept chocolate tins, plain wrapping paper, glass bottles and jars (rinsed out please), perfume bottles, deodorant aerosol cans and things like shampoo containers.

If you end up with more recycling materials than can fit in your bin, leave it out in a suitable container (such as a cardboard box) and we will take it away.

Here's what you can and can't put in each of the bins...
