As the legal restrictions end, there is a call for customers to respect any COVID safety measures that local businesses choose to introduce.
Today had been dubbed Freedom Day, but business leaders in North Yorkshire say the phrase is not that helpful.
As most of the legal requirements for face masks and social distancing are removed the Local Enterprise partnership say many businesses will want to voluntarily keep measures in place to protect their staff and customers.
Andrew Raby from the partnership is asking the public to respect any measures that local firms put in place.
Andrew says the previous legal rules for COVID safety in businesses have been replaced with guidance from the government and local authorities. He says feedback from local firms suggests many will be sticking with some form of COVID safety measures.
