Both lifeboats were deployed on Saturday after a small RIB drifted a mile out to sea.
In the early hours of Saturday morning both Scarborough's lifeboats launched to a small vessel with engine trouble in the North bay area.
After launching the small Rib from the steps on the Marine Drive the two casualties who were on a fishing trip soon found themselves in difficulties.
With no engine working a strong SW wind blew the small craft over a mile out to sea, one of the Sponson's had started deflating and was taking on water. Once on scene the ILB transferred the two men onto the ALB for first aid treatment and then towed the craft back to the harbour.
The ALB Coxswain said
"If you are considering going to sea in any vessel please ensure you carry the right safety equipment such as lifejackets, VHF Radio, and Flares and tell someone the location and duration of the trip, the two lads were very lucky we located them in such a short time".
On Sunday night both boats and the local Coastguard Rescue Teams were tasked to look for a missing person in the Cayton bay area, after a couple of hours of searching the Coastguard teams found the casualty safe and well, both boats were then stood down and returned to station.
If you see anyone injured or in distress on the coast, dial 999 and ask for the coastguard.
