Bridlington Town Council has announced it is looking to expand its team by recruiting two new Administrative Officers to support its operations in the heart of the town centre.
The Council, which serves a community of more than 30,000 registered electors, is searching for individuals who are "highly motivated and enthusiastic" to work for the benefit of the local area.
According to the official job description, the successful candidates will act as "an ambassador for the Council" when meeting residents and visitors, serving as the first point of contact for the local authority. The Council emphasises that the role requires providing a "warm welcome to all" while handling enquiries in a friendly and professional manner.
Beyond being the face of the Council, the Administrative Officers will be responsible for a variety of tasks to ensure the smooth running of local governance. These include:
- Updating the Council’s social media and notice boards with current information.
- Maintaining the Mayor’s Civic Diary and assisting with the organisation of civic functions.
- Providing clerical support, such as managing post, filing systems, and office supplies.
- Ensuring the Council’s website remains compliant with modern accessibility and data protection requirements.
The Council has stated that these positions are offered on an initial fixed-term basis, with a working week of 16 hours spread over five days. The starting salary is set at £12.61 per hour, depending on the applicant's age and experience, and includes what the Council describes as an "attractive pension package".
In terms of qualifications, the Council specifies that candidates should have a good basic education, including GCSEs at grade 4 (C) or above. Essential qualities for the "ambassador" role include excellent communication skills, a "caring positive attitude", and the ability to remain calm under pressure. Experience in a busy office environment and a willingness to attend weekend civic events are also highlighted as key requirements.
The workplace is based at the Town Council offices on Marshall Avenue, which operates as a smoke-free environment. As an Equal Opportunities Employer, the Council has noted that "reasonable adjustments will be made" to accommodate staff with disabilities.
Interested residents have until Monday, 2nd February 2026, to submit their applications. Application forms can be collected in person from the Town Council office between 9:00 am and 2:30 pm, Monday to Friday, or downloaded directly from the official Bridlington Town Council website at https://bridlington.gov.uk/vacancies/
