A further 383 people were diagnosed with coronavirus across the East Yorkshire area on Christmas Eve, though Bridlington had one of the lowest rates in the county.
The Government’s latest rolling figures, updated on Christmas Eve, showed the number of infections recorded were 1,879 in the East Riding in the seven days up to Sunday, December 19, the latest with weekly data available.
At least 179 cases linked to the Omicron variant have been confirmed in the East Riding according to the latest UKHSA data.
The figures come as around 1.7m people across the country are thought to have had coronavirus in the last week alone, the highest number since Autumn last year.
It also comes as ministers are currently weighing stricter coronavirus measures and are due to make an announcement on Monday.

Government data up to Thursday, December 23 shows that in the UK, 131,194,282 jabs have been given so far, 51,649,696 first doses, 47,254,099 second doses and 32,290,487 boosters.
