Opponents Kirkella then squeaked home by two wickets despite three scalps each for Brannan and Josh Dawson.
Whitby were officially relegated from North Yorkshire South Durham Division One, but consoled themselves with an impressive win over Darlington.
After being put in to bat at the Turnbull Ground, James Fawcett top-scored with 51, while Charlie Parker added 48 not out down the order, as Whitby posted 234.
