Frank Mulhern scored a hat-trick for Scarborough Athletic in an impressive team performance on Tuesday night.
Boro nearly went behind in the opening 10 minutes but Ryan Whitley made a spectacular save to keep the National League side out.
Scarborough enjoyed most of the posession in the first half and went close when Kieran Glynn surprised with a 30-yard shot which rattled the bar.
Shortly afterwards, Boro went close again when a Lewis Maloney free kick went just over.
Both sides made numerous changes at the break and Scarborough controlled the 2nd half, taking the lead after a lovely move saw Frank Mulhern sidefoot into the net from close range.
Hartlepool equalised through Mancini from the penalty spot shortly afterwards, but from then it was all one-way traffic and the Seadogs continued to press.
A long ball found Mulhern who, whilst steaming into the box cleverly chipped the ball over the approaching Pools keeper to restore Boro's lead.
Another fine move saw Mulhern bag his hat-trick with a powerful close range header.
Harry Green nearly made it 4 with a long-range strike.
Speaking to This Is The Coast after the game, a delighted Scarborough Manager Jono Greening revealed what he'd said to the players in the dressing room after the final whistle had blown:
Greening was delighted for striker Frank Mulhern for bagging his 3 goals and taking home the match ball:
The Boro boss praised his players for their energy levels, quality of play and confidence, something he says he wants his players to have:
Jono says as good as the performance was, it's all about the 46 league games which start in August:
Attendance: 533 with 121 from Hartlepool.
Scarborough next face Barton Town at Scarborough Sports Village this Saturday at 3:00pm.
