Boro and Brid Struggling But Blues Make it 3 in 3

There were contrasting fortunes for our three major Yorkshire Coast football sides on Saturday.

In the NPL Premier, Scarborough Athletic suffered a third successive defeat. Fourth-placed Bamber Bridge netted four at the Flamingo Land Stadium.

As heard on This Is The Coast Extra, Boro were already 2-0 down when they struck late in the first half through Lewis Turner. James Cadman's terrific volley proved a mere consolation, after the break, making it 4-2, which remained the score at full-time.

The Seadogs had lost on-loan goalkeeper Ryan Whitley who failed a fitness test on a turned ankle and during the game, skipper Michael Coulson limped off with a hamstring injury which manager Jono Greening warned "looked a bad one".

Elsewhere, Whitby Town made it three wins in a row and are up to fifth in the division, after a two-minute turnaround at Mickleover Sports. The Derbyshire outfit led inside the opening minute but two second half strikes in as many minutes, from Marcus Giles and Jacob Hazel, won it for the Blues.

Bridlington Town are still searching for their first points in the new NPL Division One East League after a 2-0 loss. Two second-half goals saw Jamie Vardy's former club Stocksbridge Park Steels snatch victory. Brid remain bottom, behind Pickering Town at the foot of the table.
