Whitby Town make a third trip to Warrington Rylands in the last three years, on Saturday, but it's their first in the NPL Premier Division.
The two sides met in the FA Cup in successive seasons with the teams drawing, at Gorsey Lane, in 2020, only for the then-North West Counties League outfit to shock the Blues, on penalties, in a midweek replay. Town gained revenge last season, with a 4-0 victory, at Rylands. Following their third promotion in four seasons, the teams meet in the NPL Premier for the first time.
Nathan Haslam's men have been on an improved run of late, winning 1-0 at promotion-chasing Morpeth Town, beating a young York City side 2-0 in the North Riding Senior Cup and grabbing their first home points of the season with a 3-0 Tuesday victory over Bamber Bridge.
Speaking post-match, to Whitby Town TV, assistant manager, former Middlesbrough star Jonathan Franks says Town deserved their win at the Towbar Express Stadium:
There are fitness doubts over Priestley Griffiths after he limped out of the midweek win, though it's hoped his fellow midfielder Lewis Hawkins has fully recovered after he also picked up a knock in the win.
The Blues then host Rylands' neighbours Warrington Town, at the Towbar Express Stadium, this Tuesday, with a 7.45pm start.
