A bike library is visiting a Bridlington School, today.
60 bikes are expected to be given out the pupils and staff at Quay academy as part of a drive to persuade more people to cycle to school.
The recycled cycles are provided free of charge for a year, after which they can be swapped for another.
Christian Jordan is Assistant Road Safety Officer in the East Riding, he says the scheme has a number of benefits.
60 bikes are going to be given to pupils and staff at Quay Academy today.
Christian says the scheme aims to reduce congestion around schools and promote active transport.
One of the aims of the scheme is to take cars off the road. Christian says delivering 60 bikes could have a big impact for congestion around the school.
The bikes are recycled cycles which are prepared by R-evolution. They have a team of mechanics who teach trainees how to refurbish or recycle parts to create safe, working bicycles which they then put out into the community through the bike library scheme.
Christian says it's a great way of reusing bikes.
R-evolution accept donations of unwanted bikes that could be recycled. They can be taken to their drop off station in Bridlington, more details are available here https://www.r-evolution.org.uk/bike-project.html
