The Borough Council is bidding for funds to create community regeneration projects and to help provide more support for people displaced due to conflict and war in their home countries.
East Whitby and Scarborough's Castle Ward could benefit from UK Shared Prosperity funding to create community regeneration projects.
The government cash is designed to replace EU funding.
North Yorkshire as a county has bid for a pot of cash and Scarborough Borough Council is now itself bidding for a share of that pot.
Steve Marsh is the council's Employment and Skills Manager, he says the new regeneration projects would be similar to schemes elsewhere in the borough.
The council also says that more money is needed in the Scarborough Borough to support people displaced due to conflict and war in their home countries.
The borough council says it's preparing a bid for money from North Yorkshire's allocation of the UK Shared Prosperity Fund to help provide more support.
The council's Employment and Skills Manager - Steve Marsh - says local groups are doing a great job but more support is needed.
