Alan Priestley from Scarborough took up cycling after a Quadruple Heart Bypass a decade ago.
Alan cycles with This Is The Coast's Paddy and has asked him to accompany him on the 8th August one-day challenge.
"I actually had 2 heart attacks. I had to have a quadruple heart bypass. I lost half of my Esophagus and I had to have an Esophagus operation and that's what got me into cycling, I needed to get myself fit. The first time I got on a bike 6 months after my operation I could only ride 6 miles. I've built up year after year and I feel fitter than ever".
He told Paddy at Breakfast why he's chosen his two charities; Saint Catherine's Hospice and Children With Short Lives:
"I live in Scarborough. I've known people who've used Saint Catherines as patients and families of patients so it's important to me. And Children With Short Lives take children on holiday, they can look after families who don't have enough money to look after their children in their time of need and to give them comfort towards the end of the lives"
Alan works at Des Winks in Scarborough and he says his colleagues are supporting his challenge:
"Des Winks are always behind me. The owners and all the staff are right behind me. It's a fantastic place"
