Brompton Sawdon Primary School have launched an important fundraising campaign, targeting a five-figure sum to help transport their pupils.
Their goal is to raise £25,000 to purchase a minibus for the school.
A school statement said:
'Having a minibus will allow our students to travel safely to educational field trips, after-school activities, sports competitions and other enriching events off school grounds. As I'm sure you can appreciate, these experiences are invaluable for promoting students' learning and development.
However, as a small rural school, raising such a significant amount is a major challenge for our community. We've started our fundraising efforts, but generating awareness and support from the wider local community could go a long way toward helping us reach our minibus fund goal.
We have created the first 'Wild School' in Yorkshire. Within this, the children will develop an extensive knowledge of flora and fauna, knot tying, shelter building, fire lighting and tool use in Forest, River and Beach environments. They’ll acquire tracking, survival, navigation and geographical knowledge - all underpinned by a firm grasp on conservation issues.
This minibus would be a wonderful asset for Brompton Sawdon Primary and a great investment in the education of local children for years to come.'
