Filey is playing host to its annual Folk Festival over the May Bank Holiday weekend.
The festival features over 100 musicians performing a wide range of genres including Traditional and Contemporary Folk, Americana, Country, Blues, and everything in between. Organisers state that over well over 100 musicians will be performing, with several hundred coming to see them, making it a very memorable few days.
Organisers say that the eclectic mix of music ensures there is something for everyone to enjoy, and that during the weekend, it will feel like "music is everywhere" in the bustling seaside town of Filey.
In addition to free entry performances, ticketed evening concerts are also taking place. The festival includes Singarounds/Sessions and Open Mic opportunities. Various venues across Filey host events throughout the weekend including The Imperial which starts the festival weekend with performers from 6pm on Friday evening, the venue is noted for ending each evening with an Open Mic. The Imperial will also host the Songwriters Circle on Saturday and Sunday afternoons, bringing a selection of original music from songwriters in the region.
The Belle Vue is described as a lively venue where attendees can get up close and personal with each performance on the small stage area in the main bar. Newly added led Singarounds/Sessions will take place downstairs, with a late night Open Mic on Sunday.
The Masonic Hall is highlighted as a venue with a fantastic space that lends itself to performances with enriched acoustics and immersive sound. It is described as having historical character and offering intimate performances.
Bonhommes brings a large number of artists from Friday evening through to Sunday night, also including an Open Mic. It is described as a busy and fantastic musical extravaganza.
The Bandstand is noted as an iconic open air stage with a view of Filey Bay, bringing two days of musicians to The Crescent Gardens.
For those who prefer playing unplugged without a stage and microphones, Singarounds/Sessions are available at The Cobblers Arms and Belle Vue (Downstairs).
