Wildfire Preparations Stepped Up in North Yorkshire

Firefighters in Pickering and Kirkbymoorside have been given extra training to help them deal with wildfires.

 

North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue says it has enhanced its preparations for dealing with large outdoor fires.

The July heatwave saw six incidents take place on one day.

Head of Assurance, James Manning says they have taken a number of steps to deal with the issues that wildfires present.

This summer's heatwave saw a number of fires break out across the county including six incidents on one day in July.

Head of Assurance - James Manning - says the service is working with landowners to tackle some of the issues and to improve preparedness for any fire events.
