Whitley Bay Defence and Covid Ensure Blank Scoresheet For Yorkshire Coast Footballers

Whitby Town were held to a 0-0 draw up the coast while Covid twice thwarted Scarborough Athletic from even making the pitch.

Saturday saw Whitby Town travel to Whitley Bay, as their pre-season campaign continued. However, on a scorching day across the country, Town's strikers failed to fire as Bay, who play two divisions lower in Northern League Division One, put in a good defensive display.

Meanwhile- Scarborough Athletic were twice thwarted by Covid in their efforts to find a fixture. The Seadogs were originally scheduled to face pontefract, only for the West Yorkshire side to be hit by the virus. Athletic then moved quickly to arrange a trip to Conference North Gateshead. However, later on Friday, it was announce the Tynesiders too suffered Covid infections in their squad and that game was postponed too.

Bridlington Town lost 4-1 to another Northern League side, North Shields.

Next up, Whitby Town visit Guisborough Town, on Tuesday night, while Scarborough Athletic have a short trip themselves, to Pickering Town, on the same evening. Brid are also in action, at Hall Road Rangers.
