The Blues finally ended their scoreless run, on Tuesday, at the Towbar Express Stadium, thanks to man-of-the-match Matty Tymon.
Whitby Town once again registered a clean sheet, but this time, they found the net at the other end.
17-year-old York City loan striker Ben Farrar was upended in the penalty area and Tymon stepped up to send the Ilkeston goalkeeper the wrong way, on 72 minutes.
The first half was dominated by Whitby against their Derbyshire opponents but struggled to get a shot on target. Harley Dawson missed a point-blank header in the best opportunity of the half.
Tymon could've made it two, late on, but rattled the crossbar, however the Blues hung on for an important point to shoot up to 11th, six points from the relegation zone.
Here's the best of the action from This Is The Coast Extra:
Paul Connolly and Liam Ryder on commentary.
Gary Liddle admitted he was delighted to pick up just the club's second win in eight matches after a barren spell in front of goal:
"Yeah, definitely. I've just said to them in there, they really deserved that today. I think a real battling performance, not one for the neutral, but no, really pleased with the efforts, the battling qualities that the lads had to show tonight.
"A night for simple football, if you like, and, no we battled well and, got on top of second balls, won first balls. And no, really pleased with the result, obviously we got a goal tonight which we've not been used to. But no, I'm really pleased that it's resulted in us getting three points and it makes, it's a disappointing result what we felt on Saturday looks like a decent result and we can hopefully take it on to Prescot at the weekend."
The Blues are back in action, away at Prescot Cables, on Saturday.
We again have live commentary, on This Is The Coast Extra, from 3pm.
