The Blues drew 1-1 with Hyde on Saturday in a huge six-pointer at the wrong end of the NPL Premier.
These two relegation battlers cancelled each other out amid a blustery Yorkshire Coast.
Whitby made the better start and deservedly led on six minutes. Harley Dawson's fine run ended with a pass into the path of Jake Charles who fired home for the Seasiders.
Dawson then came agonisingly close to doubling Town's advantage but struck the post as the Tigers clung on.
At the other end, Dontai Gabbidon fired straight at Shane Bland. Tunde Owalabi then ran through unchallenged and finished superbly for 1-1, on 24 minutes. Owalabi hit the net again but the offside flag came to Whitby's rescue.
Bland denied Edy Maieco with Dawson coming close for Whitby in the second half.
Bland was limping after a first half collision but fought through the game with his understudy Nick Cranston red carded in added time after an exchange with members of the crowd.
Attendance: 547
Joint boss Lee Bullock thought the score was about right:
Blues are two points clear of the NPL Premier relegation zone going into their last two matches.
Whitby visit Leek Town, next Saturday.
