Scarborough Athletic will host Hull City Under 21s at the Scarborough Sports Village this Tuesday.
Football fans are being encouraged to turn out in force on Tuesday evening as Scarborough Athletic welcome Hull City Under 21s to the Scarborough Sports Village.
The Seadogs will face the young Championship side in their penultimate pre-season friendly following a weekend defeat to League One outfit Barnsley.
Preparations for the upcoming campaign are intensifying, and the club is hoping for a strong home attendance to boost the squad ahead of the competitive fixtures.
Manager Jono Greening is eager for another home outing and wants the local community to get behind the players:
"Tuesday, we are really looking forward to the game against Hull City. Fingers crossed, we can get a bumper crowd down and supporting the boys as well, especially after being away for a year. So it would be good to get all support down for that game. Yeah, two pre-season games left against two really good sides. Obviously, Hull City. It will be a difficult task on Tuesday and then we go away to Harrogate, which, you know, they've just been relegated. They'll want to bounce straight back up. So, looking forward to that and then you know, obviously looking forward to South Shields here for the first game of the season."
The fixture against Hull City follows an impressive display from twenty-year-old Jack Waldron during Saturday's match against Barnsley.
The versatile player recently committed his future to the club after departing Sheffield United, securing a vital addition to the squad.
Despite attracting attention from teams higher up the football pyramid, persistent contact throughout the summer ensured the young talent remained on the Yorkshire Coast.
Securing a player capable of operating in multiple positions provides a significant tactical advantage for the team as they look towards a demanding season.
Greening said it's important for his side's season:
"Yeah, massive. I think, you know, from the end of last year when, you know, we finished the season we wanted him to stay. We didn't know the situation, you know, with what was happening with Sheffield United. Then obviously he got released and then he had a bit of interest from higher up the pyramid but you know, kept in contact all summer and still had a cool pre-season.
I just said to him, listen, you know me really well now. You've been with me two years, come down and just do some training and then, you know, got him into the training ground and bullied him into signing so he couldn't get out out of the place but I'm really pleased to have him. He's obviously a top player, can play three or four different positions and he's still only 20, so you know, when he's got time on his side, the more games he plays, the better he'll become."
The Hull City clash marks the first of two remaining pre-season tests before the real action begins.
Following an upcoming away trip against a recently relegated Harrogate Town, from the league above, Scarborough Athletic will return to the Sports Village to host South Shields in their opening fixture of the new campaign.
