With thick mud and heavy rain pre-match the battle of Bamber Bridge descended into a battle to get the game played on Saturday.
It must have been touch and go, but the 90 minutes were completed in Lancashire as Whitby battled to a draw.
The Preston-based hosts led inside four minutes.
However, the heavy conditions helped the Blues who took advantage of a back-pass stopping on the turf and allowing Matty Tymon to net his second goal in as many matches.
There were chances for both sides with the returning Shane Bland in great form in the Town goal.
Blues joint-boss Jason Kennedy spoke to Whitby Town TV after the game:
Whitby Town are three points clear of the NPL Premier relegation zone.
