Whitby is preparing to transform into a festive hub as the Town Council officially opens applications for stallholders to participate in the 2026 Whitby Christmas Festival.
Scheduled to take place from 13th to 15th November, the event aims to build on previous years to create a better environment for residents and visitors to "live, work and play".
The festival will be hosted at the Marina Front Car Park on Langborne Road, serving as a central point for the town's seasonal celebrations. According to the organisers, the market will open its doors on Friday evening, 13th November, from 5pm to 8pm, followed by full trading days on Saturday (10am–8pm) and Sunday (10am–4pm).
Whitby Town Council has expressed a commitment to continuous improvement, stating, "Each year we strive to build on our successes and make improvements where possible". They have also invited the community and businesses to provide feedback to help make the festival "even better in the future".
Application Details for Businesses
Prospective traders are encouraged to apply through the council’s official website, where specific forms are available for both general traders—covering sheds, huts, and gazebos—and food concessions. The council has emphasised the importance of completing the correct documentation to ensure proper "allocation for the event and fees".
Business owners can expect the following provisions:
- All sheds, gazebos, and beach huts will be equipped with a light and two electric points.
- Catering pitches will have electricity available, though vendors must specify their power requirements at least one month in advance.
- Overnight security patrols will be active on the festival site from 8pm until 8am to protect the market area.
The council has confirmed that successful applicants will be notified of their status by the end of August 2026.
