Whitby Town have secured their second summer signing ahead of the 2026/27 season with the addition of young centre-back Charlie Stirland from Blyth Spartans.
Whitby Town have completed the signing of defender Charlie Stirland from Blyth Spartans ahead of the 2026/27 season.
The young centre-back becomes the Seasiders' second summer signing as preparations continue for the new campaign at the Towbar Express Stadium.
Stirland arrives on the Yorkshire Coast after gaining valuable senior experience with Blyth Spartans, where he continued his development in competitive non-league football.
The defender began his career in the academy system at Middlesbrough before spending time with MK Dons. He has also featured for Oxford City, Darlington and Newton Aycliffe, building a wealth of experience across both professional and non-league levels.
Known for his athleticism, versatility and ability to read the game, Stirland is capable of operating across the back line. Whitby Town officials believe the signing adds further quality to the squad and expect him to strengthen their defensive options as they continue to build for the upcoming season.
Speaking after completing the move, Charlie Stirland said:
"I've heard good things about the club and it's close to me which comes hand-in-hand.
Lee (Bullock) has said that he wants to create a nice squad that's going to be fighting in the league, getting the results that we want to compete.
I've had the experience of playing both men's and Academy football so I've been taught to play, but I know when to be no-nonsense and get rid. I'm also fast and vocal on the pitch."
