Whitby Town coach Denny Ingram says the team's sole focus is on securing Northern Premier League survival as they prepare for a vital away trip to Leek Town this Saturday.
Whitby Town are preparing for a crucial away fixture this weekend as they look to secure their Northern Premier League Premier Division status.
The Blues will make the journey to face Leek Town on Saturday, knowing that their survival in the division could be confirmed by the end of the day.
Whitby are currently sitting three points clear of the division's relegation zone. This means a positive result, combined with favourable outcomes elsewhere in the league, could see them mathematically safe by 5pm.
With the stakes incredibly high for the coastal club, the focus has shifted entirely away from the style of play and individual accolades. The sole objective for the team is putting points on the board to avoid the drop.
Whitby Town coach Denny Ingram has made it clear that the team must be prepared for a difficult physical battle against their upcoming opponents, acknowledging that the away trip will be a significant challenge.
The ex-Bridlington Town boss told Whitby Town TV it's all about points:
"That's all that matters. That's all that matters. Not about performances, not about, you know, individual gains, it's all about the team and making sure that you're walking away at 5 o'clock with the right result to ensure that you stay in the league. We're going to go to Leek, not an easy place to go. They're going to be big, strong, powerful and we've got to stand up to the test. The lads, I'm sure, will go out there on Saturday and give everything they've got to ensure that we come away with, the right result that will make us survive this season."
The fixture represents a massive test for the Blues, who will be relying on a collective team effort to overcome a formidable Leek Town outfit.
As the final whistle approaches on Saturday afternoon, fans and players alike will be keeping a close eye on both the action on the pitch and the scores from around the league.
If results go their way, Whitby Town can look forward to breathing a sigh of relief and preparing for a 30th season of Northern Premier League Premier Division football as they celebrate their centenary in 2027.
Whitby Town could secure their Northern Premier League survival this Saturday.
Kick-off is 3pm.
