The Blues are running out of matches as they look to put distance between themselves and the NPL Premier relegation zone.
Town remain five points above the drop zone after a 2-1 loss to Ashton United on Tuesday night.
The North West outfit led moments before half-time.
They doubled their advantage, 13 minutes from time.
Whitby got a lifeline when ex-Scarborough Athletic striker Jake Charles was upended after a tangle of legs in the penalty area and got up to bury the resulting spot-kick, with three minutes left. However it proved a mere consolation.
Here's how it played out on This Is The Coast Extra:
Paul Connolly and Liam Ryder on commentary.
Whitby Town TV caught up with Blues co-manager Jason Kennedy just after the final whistle, he wanted better after conceding three goals in eleven minutes on Saturday, but he was disappointed with the set piece conceded that led to Ashton's opening goal:
" Could we have done better with the goal? Yeah, I think we definitely can. We'll look at that, but when you're down there not winning games, it's real difficult.
"We'll go again, we've got to fight our way out of this now. Obviously we wanted a reaction. We thought the game was still still there to be won. If we scored, obviously the next goal, but that didn't happen and they created their chance, their only chance probably of the half. took it and then you're up against it because the opposition is smart. They slow the play down and it makes it difficult to get a momentum in the game. Barring the penalty, I don't think we really took any opportunities tonight at all that we should have."
Blues are back in action, at West Yorkshire side Guiseley in NPL Premier, we have full coverage on Extra from 3pm on Saturday.
