Whitby councillors have reaffirmed their commitment to the town's Christmas Festival but there is criticism about the town's festive lighting.
Whitby's Christmas lights were "pathetic" according to one local councillor.
Linda Wild says many streets were left without any festive display due to long running issues with the electricity supply.
The council last week voted to reduce this year's budget for Christmas lights by five thousand pounds.
Councillor Wild wants reassurance that more areas of the town will be able to benefit from lighting this year.
At the same time as reducing the budget for Christmas lights in the town, the Town Council reaffirmed it's commitment to the Whitby Christmas Festival, approving a budget for the event for this year, but voting to remove the fireworks display as a cost saving measure.
Councillor Heather Coughlan says she's heard from local businesses who benefitted from the weekend event.
The Christmas Festival generates an income for the Town Council of around £2,500, removing the firework display saves the council £3,500.
