The team behind Whitby Regatta have thanked everyone who made this years event a success.
After missing last year due to COVID the organising Committee put on a scaled back event this year which was organised in record time.
The traditional rowing races took place over the weekend with the fair arriving in town on Sunday and a large fireworks display bringing the event to an end last night.
Chair of the regatta Ivor Greer says everyone pulled together to put on the weekend event.
There was a lot of uncertainty around the COVID situation during the planning phase for this years event. That meant some decisions about what could take place happened fairly last minute, and it also lead to the organising committee not to ask local businesses to contribute financially to the event this year.

Ivor Greer says the weekend went well and they will start planning now for a bigger event next summer.
