Humberside Fire and Rescue were called out when smoke billowed out of a washing machine in Bridlington.
It happened at a property on Prickett Road in the town on Saturday around 1pm.
Firefighters removed the problem device from the building.
They then gave advice to the owner and completed a safety visit.
No-one was hurt.
