There are warnings that Covid rates in the East Riding are likely higher than figures suggest.
The Government’s latest rolling figures, updated on Friday, show the case rate per 100,000 people across the region was 368.9 in the East Riding in the seven days up to Wednesday, February 23, the latest weekly data available. A total of 185,625 new coronavirus cases were recorded nationally in the week up to today, bringing the total since the start of the pandemic to 18,886,701.
The figures come as East Riding Council Public Heath Director Andy Kingdom said the proportion of people infected was likely as high as one in 15. He added the rates were not reflected in data because of a drop off in testing since restrictions lifted.
