Whitby is to receive new trees following the removal of a number of dead cherry trees on Mayfield Road.
North Yorkshire County Council contractors have this week removed the dead or dying trees which will be replaced in the spring.
The County Council say..
On Monday, our contractors carried out essential maintenance on elderly cherry trees on Mayfield Road in Whitby after we received reports that one tree was dead.
Following an inspection by a qualified arborist, several trees were found to be dying, diseased or choking with ivy.
Work has now been completed.
We are intending to replace the trees that have had to be removed in the Spring.
