The Oddyssey Illumination Display will be at Dock End, Sandgate and Church Street between 5:00pm and 8:00pm.
'The Odyssey Embarks' event will see Dock End on Langborne Road host a range of illuminations and lighting installations to mark the beginning of Odysseus' epic journey along the coast.
There will be free face painting, opportunities for selfies and a video projection onto the hull of the Endeavour every 30 minutes.
A trail of lanterns in windows will light up Church Street, Sandgate and Bridge Street. Each one represents a character or image from The Odyssey and there are 9 to spot.
The event by Animated Objects, is a continuation of a story that's been told in various ways along the Yorkshire Coast this year, including the giant cardboard Trojan Horse at Bridlington Spa last month and the giant walking puppet which 'washed up' along the shore on various beaches over the summer.
The event is free to attend.
