The challenges faced getting Scarborough Sailor Guy Waites to the start line of the Golden Globe round the world yacht race will be explored at a special event in the town tonight.
The story behind the build up to Scarborough Sailor Guy Waites' round the world yacht race will be told at a special event in Scarborough tonight.
Guy is currently sailing back up the Atlantic to France after completing a circumnavigation of the globe. He set off from France last September as one of 16 competitors in the Golden Globe Round the World Yacht race.
Guy was later forced to drop out of the race after failing to reach a checkpoint in time after problems with barnacles but decided to continue with his circumnavigation challenge.

Tonight Scarborough Yacht club will be hearing about the years of work that went into preparing Guy's challenge.
Simon Bull from the yacht club says there are some tales to tell.
Simon says tonight's event entitled ‘Getting Guy to the Start’ will look at the build up to the race.
The event is at 7pm at Scarborough Yacht club's lighthouse building and is open to the public.
