An 18-year-old man has appeared in court charged with wounding with intent and possessing an offensive weapon following a serious assault in Scarborough.
The incident took place in the Albemarle Back Road area of the town, where officers responded to reports of an altercation.
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police outlined the timeline of the events and the initial response from emergency services.
They said:
'At approximately 11.50am, on Thursday, we received reports of a disturbance in Victoria Court and on arrival, officers found the victim who had sustained several injuries.'
Following the discovery of the injured victim, officers conducted immediate enquiries in the surrounding area to locate the person responsible.
The spokesperson added:
'During initial enquiries, the suspect was spotted by officers in the West Square area, and was subsequently arrested and taken into custody for questioning.'
Following his time in custody for questioning, the teenager faced multiple charges in connection with the incident.
Authorities confirmed that he was officially charged with wounding with intent, possessing an offensive weapon, and criminal damage.
The 18-year-old was remanded in custody ahead of his scheduled appearance at York Magistrates’ Court.
