The charity says more helped is needed across North Yorkshire.
They have an event at their soon to be closing HQ in Whitby on the 8th of September.
St John's Network Lead for the Coast and Moors Area in North East Region is James Hammond:
"Obviously we raised an appeal in April/May time, so we're just looking for new volunteers still basically around Scarborough, Whitby, Pickering Fire to come and join St. John, provide first aid cover demonstrations, community engagement in our local area. Just getting the word out there really [about] first aid training and how valuable it is. So just a basic skill such as CPR, chest compressions and ventilations. If someone does go into cardiac arrest, it can save their life."
James says those skills can prove crucial:
" One of the main things is early recognition. early chest compressions and early defibrillation, which are very basic first aid standards can achieve so people can come along. Um, kind of like a taste the night. Um, we have got something in Whitby on the 8th of September, where people can come along, ask questions.
"Basically just, just get to know us and go from there, see if they like it and then they put in an application, go through the application process and start from scratch."
