Family Raises £1,000 for Saint Catherine’s Following Special Event at Sneaton Castle
A kind-hearted family has donated £1,000 to Saint Catherine’s after holding a Santa’s Grotto at Sneaton Castle, near Whitby.
The Morley family have held many events to support the hospice in the past, including lunches and charity balls at The Stable at Cross Butts.
However, with COVID restrictions during 2020, events such as the ball were sadly not possible. But the Morleys came up with an idea just before Christmas that allowed them to fundraise safely and in line with COVID guidelines at Sneaton Castle, which they run as a family.
Gemma Lyth (nee Morley) said:
“We didn’t want to miss a year and not be able to do anything for Saint Catherine’s.
“We wanted to do something really special and when we heard to Santa’s Grottos would be allowed, we were able to get it ready really quickly.
“It was lovely and the best thing was seeing all the children, who were in their element. They were overawed by it all and we were really proud as a family to be able to offer it. It was a big achievement.”
Susan Stephenson, communications and marketing manager for Saint Catherine’s, said:
“We would like to say a huge thank you to the Morley family for their continued support. To still be able to fundraise so successfully in these difficult circumstances really shows their dedication to Saint Catherine’s, for which we are truly grateful.”
