The teams at a Yorkshire Wolds brewery and a Yorkshire coast whisky distillery are celebrating after reaching the final of a regional award that champions exporters.
Wold Newton business, Wold Top Brewery and Hunmanby-based Spirit of Yorkshire Distillery have reached the final of the Northern Powerhouse Export Awards in the Small and Micro Exporter categories respectively.
Kate Balchin, director at the brewery and sister of the distillery's marketing director, Jenni Ashwood, said:
"Despite the challenges posed by post-Brexit trading, exports remain an important and growing part of both our businesses. We're delighted to put our lovely part of Yorkshire on the export map by reaching the final of these prestigious awards."
Organised by UMi, in association with Department for Business and Trade, the Northern Powerhouse Export Awards aim to accelerate and inspire businesses of all shapes and sizes to do more and go further on their exporting journeys.
The winners will be announced on 28th June at Middlesborough Town Hall. Speaking ahead of the event, UMi CEO, Nicki Clark, said:
"We've been delighted with the level and quality of the entries which just shows how much export growth potential there is across the North of England."
Spirit of Yorkshire Distillery was established in 2016 by Tom Mellor and David Thompson.
Wold Top was founded in 2003 by Mrs Balchin's parents, Tom and Gill Mellor on the family farm at Hunmanby Grange. It is celebrating it's 20th anniversary today with a special open day from 10am to 4pm. The team say it will be a family-friendly day with various stalls, activities, food and drink.
