A man and a woman from Scarborough are in police custody following an act of outraging public decency in the town centre.
Two local residents are currently in police custody following an act of outraging public decency in Scarborough town centre.
Officers have arrested a thirty-eight-year-old woman and a thirty-one-year-old man, both from Scarborough, in connection with the incident.
An active investigation is underway after police received reports shortly after 7pm on Monday, 14 September.
Photographs relating to the alleged incident are currently circulating across various social media platforms, prompting a direct appeal for information.
Detectives are focusing their efforts on identifying witnesses and are particularly keen to speak with the individual who captured the original image.
CCTV enquiries have been ongoing throughout the day as investigators work to piece together the events that unfolded in the town centre.
The police are now asking for the community's assistance to help progress the case.
A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police said:
"We are aware of images circulating on social media and we would like to speak to anyone who has witnessed the act, in particular, the person who took the original image. We are asking for assistance from our community. Were you in Scarborough Town Centre last night and did you witness anything suspicious? Do you have any information about the image which has been shared on social media, or do you recognise any of the persons involved?"
Anyone who was in the vicinity on Monday evening and witnessed suspicious behaviour is urged to come forward.
