More than £3,000 has been raised for patient care at Saint Catherine’s following a vibrant fundraising event at Scarborough Cricket Club.
Thousands of pounds will directly support patient care after cricket fans embraced a colourful charity initiative in Scarborough.
An impressive total of £3,053.98 was collected during the inaugural 'Wear it Pink and Purple for Saint Catherine’s Day'.
The vibrant fundraising event took place at Scarborough Cricket Club on Friday the 28th of August 2026, coinciding with the Rothesay County Championship clash between Yorkshire and Leicestershire.
Supporters were actively encouraged to dress in pink and purple clothing to create a brightly coloured spectacle across the pitch and throughout the crowd.
The dedicated initiative was designed to combine a fun, engaging atmosphere with a serious drive to raise much-needed funds for vital patient care at Saint Catherine’s.
Organisers noted that despite the less-than-ideal weather conditions on the day, the generosity of those in attendance shone through.
Fundraising operations coordinator at Saint Catherine’s, Susan Stephenson, expressed her gratitude to everyone involved in making the day a success.
Susan Stephenson said:
"What a fabulous day and we are thrilled with the amount raised. The club and supporters were so generous in giving donations, buying merchandise and generally showing an amazing level of support. The weather may not have been kind, but this did not dampen people’s spirits. We’re already looking forward to next year."
She also extended a huge thank you to the Yorkshire cricket team, who kindly supported the charitable cause by signing hats for a silent auction.
Further appreciation was directed towards everyone at the cricket club who assisted in organising and supporting the special event.
Venue officials also hailed the fundraising efforts as a major success, noting the importance of community engagement.
Operations manager for Scarborough Cricket Club, Dan Gregory, said:
"We're thrilled that we managed to get this event off the ground this year, and it definitely gives us a great platform to build from moving forward. Given the poor weather on the day, to raise just over £3,000 is a fantastic achievement. We're keen to increase the club's work supporting local communities, and to get started with this amount is great."
