A Scarborough centre that helps with recovery from addiction has launched a new podcast.
The Ark Centre on Valley Road is set to offer practical tips and interviews with those who've rebuilt their lives following drug and alcohol addictions.
These include celebrity speakers.
The podcast's presenter is Richard Chapman.
He says a chance meeting with future colleague Lee Harvey helped launch the idea:
"I suppose Ark's been running now for about 30 years and we've never really invested in any kind of social media and by chance, Lee, who is in a fellowship in Pudsey in South Bradford area, spoke to a colleague here. I had a chat with Lee and thought it'd be a really good idea to try and increase our social media across all platforms.
So yeah, that's the reason why it happened."
The podcast will use step-by-step tips and hacks to keep those with addictions on track with their recovery.
Richard hopes practical advice and big names can really help people:
"Yeah, I suppose we want to try and tackle the stigma of addiction and make people more aware of a solution that's out there for people if they want it.
"We're fortunate in that we've had some really good celebrities who've come forward free of charge and offered to tell us their story. We've got Marcus Brigstocke, who's a comedian. We have Dapper Laughs. We've also got some recovery hacks where people can get ideas on sleep deprivation, anxiety, which a lot of drug addicts and alcoholics suffer from. And then also we've got some stories of graduates of our house who've gone through this 12 step programme and they've remained clean."
Episode One of the In Recovery Podcast features Emmerdale star Kevin Mathurin and launches on the 22nd of December.
