Ukrainian children who found safe haven in Scarborough when their country was invaded by Russia are taking part in a special programme to make sure they don't forget how to speak Ukrainian.
Tomorrow marks two years since the outbreak of the war.
In February 2022 a huge effort was launched to help Ukrainian families flee the war zone, initially through sponsors opening their homes to Ukrainian refugees and may found safe haven in the Scarborough area.
Inna Morez is one of the Ukrainian mothers who is now living in Scarborough, she says it has been tough for the younger children some of whom have now spent as much time living in the UK as in their home country.
Today in Scarborough the local Ukrainian community will be marking the second anniversary of the outbreak of war with a day of activity at the Sunflower Cafe and a special remembrance service this evening.
Iryna Kutsemakhina is one of the Ukrainians who found safe have in Scarborough, she says they never thought they would remain here so long.
Today's event at the Sunflower Cafe will take place from 10am at the Salvation Army on Alma Parade where visitors will be able to sample Ukrainian Borsch with Pampushky and other Ukrainian delights. There will also be videos, presentations, and interesting facts about Ukraine on show.
The remembrance service will take place at 7pm and will include the lighting of remembrance candles, poetry performances by some of the Ukrainian Children and songs from the Ukrainian Ladies Choir.
