Scarborough Traders Welcome Lockdown Roadmap

Scarborough's South Bay Traders Association has welcomed the Governments roadmap out of lockdown but say some concerns remain.

The roadmap out of lockdown revealed by the Prime Minister yesterday could see non-essential retail reopen on April 12th along with hairdressers, beer gardens and gyms.

Indoor hospitality could reopen in May, and the majority of Covid restrictions could be fully eased by the 21st of June.

It's all subject to four tests being met - including the continued success with the vaccine rollout.

While welcoming the fact that there is now a roadmap, John Senior from the South Bay Traders Association in Scarborough says there are also some concerns over the timescales.

The four stage plan would see hotels in the UK able to welcome back guests from mid May The earliest restaurants will be able to serve customers inside is 17th May. John says there is already a body of work underway to get Scarborough ready for visitors when the restrictions are eased.
