Scarborough Mayor Thomas Murray will join veterans and residents for a special St George's Day Armed Forces Church Parade at St Andrew's URC on Sunday, 26 April.
A special St George's Day Armed Forces Church Parade is set to take place in Scarborough, bringing together civic leaders, veterans, and the local community.
The event will be held on Sunday, 26 April 2026, starting at 10.30am at St Andrew's URC in Scarborough.
Scarborough Mayor Thomas Murray will be in attendance, joining local veterans, uniformed organisations, military cadets, and residents for the commemorative service.
During the church parade, the standards of various military associations will be paraded. Organisers state that the ceremony aims to honour and celebrate the values of courage and service to God, King, and Country demonstrated by the Armed Forces.
The service itself will feature traditional hymns, readings, and reflections focusing on the enduring symbolism of St George, a figure who is traditionally associated with bravery and integrity.
Dr Lori Boul, Veterans Lead for Age UK NYCM, highlighted the importance of the gathering for the town.
Dr Boul said:
"St George’s Day is a moment for our community to come together, celebrate our shared heritage, and recognise the contributions of those who serve others. We’re delighted to welcome everyone to join us for this meaningful event."
Following the conclusion of the service, refreshments will be made available for attendees in the church hall.
Organisers have warmly invited all local residents to attend and take part in what they describe as a proud local tradition.
