A Scarborough Skipper is preparing to take part in a round the world yacht race with a difference.
Guy Waites will be taking part in the Golden Globe Race single-handed round the world race next September.
Guy explains why the race is particularly challenging.
Competitors must use technology dating from 1968 when the race was first run so there is no satellite navigation or internet weather forecasts.

Guys now trying to raise £50k to get his vessel the Sagarmartha ready for the event and has made a big financial commitment to the project himself..
So far Guy has raised just over £13k of the £50k needed to complete the Sagarmartha's preparations. He has a GoFundMe page to help raise the rest of the funds.
Guy says he isn't phased by using the retro technology required for the race.
He's already tried out the boat on the qualifying stage across the Atlantic and says using the 1960's navigation techniques was no problem, but he did discover some issues with the boat.

The race is expected to take around 7 months of non-stop sailing to complete but Guy thinks there is some variability to the timing depending on the conditions.
