Scarborough Sailor Guy Waites starts his bid to win the Golden Globe round-the-world Sailing Race today.
Competitors will sail single handedly throughout the 26,000 mile race using navigation kit from the 1960's
The race starts from France today and will take over 7 months to complete, Guy says getting to the start has been a challenge in itself.
Guy sets off from France in the Sagamartha to take on the round the world challenge, more people have been to outer space than have sailed single handedly around the world.

Guy says getting to the start line has been a real team effort and is is a great feeling.
The race is expected to take around 7 months of non-stop sailing to complete. Competitors must use technology dating from 1968 when the race was first run so there is no satellite navigation or internet weather forecasts.
